"Debbie Chapman"
Debbie Chapman is a contemporary-realist painter based in Dublin, Ireland. Self-taught, she took up full time painting in 2003 and has enjoyed remarkable commercial success. A former graphic design consultant with London’s Jevons Brown, she has applied a natural flair for the telling image to her instantly recognisable, modern paintings.
She has developed an international client base that includes private and corporate collectors and has recently completed a high profile commission of her work for The Hermitage Clinic in West Dublin.
Having developed a style of painting that is quite labour intensive, she only produces a limited number of paintings each year. The demand for her work has lead to the enviable situation where many of the pieces are reserved before they’re completed.
Her paintings have been exhibited by The Private Collector Gallery and Buckley’s Fine Arts in Cork, The Tramyard and Blue Leaf Galleries in Dublin and Gormley’s Fine Art in Belfast. She has also had great success with self-hung shows in The Coccoon Bar in Dublin and The Cockleshell Art Centre in Wexford.
Born in Duncannon, Co. Wexford, Debbie attended Waterford RTC where she studied graphic design before an extended stint living and working in London. A dedicated follower of fashion, she is now married and has a daughter, aged 7.
